As you may or may not have noticed, YouTube recently muted the audio on our fifth Earthbound episode, due to excessive usage of music from the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine album. This is unfortunate, especially since this is the second time we’ve tried putting this episode online (we triggered YouTube’s music copyright detectors once back in 2012). But what does this mean for being able to watch Episode 5?
In the long term, we would ideally like to take the time to make “broadcast-friendly” versions of our Earthbound episodes, which would feature appropriate music substitutes during the scenes that contain borrowed rock songs that we felt like were inspirations to Earthbound. This would be good not only for YouTube, but for any potential future streaming collaborations, so that no one would have to fear getting such a stream muted or taken down. Unfortunately, remixing the audio tracks would be quite a large undertaking (particularly for Episode 4 and Episode 5), so it’s not currently on our radar. Maybe someday… perhaps soon! At any rate, we imagine that you guys would prefer that we spend our time working on the final episode 🙂
ANYWAY, for the immediate future, we’ve decided to host Episode 5 in its uncensored entirety here at Ridgway Films. The episode is available both in its full original quality (1280×720) and at a smaller, more easily downloadable size (320×180)
