Let’s be honest: Earthbound Episode 6 has been in production limbo for a ridiculous amount of time. But for those few of you who are still interested in seeing the next episode, we finally FINALLY have some good news for you!
Two pieces of news, really. First off, Fangamer is hosting a mega Earthbound livestream extravaganza known as the EarthBound Baaaash! They have lots of fun stuff planned, including pizza, charity auctions, Skype calls, and of course, playing through Earthbound. While you should tune in and watch the whole stream regardless, Fangamer will be EXCLUSIVELY premiering a preview scene from the upcoming sixth episode in our Earthbound series during the stream!!!
Tentatively, the preview scene will be aired on November 29th. Keep an eye on our Twitter page for more updates as the date gets closer!
The second piece of news is that we’re finally ready to announce Episode 6‘s release date (sort of). While it may look like nothing has been happening for Earthbound, we’ve been hard at work for the past several months on the gargantuan amount of animation and post-production that the next episode has required. But most of that work has been in the first half of the episode. And so it occurred to us that since the first half of the episode is nearly finished, whereas the last half is not, we thought: “Why make everyone wait an additional several months to get the full episode out in one chunk, when we could release a big piece that’s already finished, and get it out there sooner?”
And so, we’re going to totally Tim Schafer this puppy, and release Episode 6 in two parts. Part 1 will be released on JANUARY 31, 2014, and will run around 20 minutes in length. Part 2 will be released later in 2014.
