Creepypasta Wins “Best Film”

WHAAAAT????

Yes, you read that right.  Creepypasta, that short film we did for a laugh last summer, won the award for “Best Film” at the 4th Annual University of Tulsa Spring Film Festival.  I’m sure you guys are as surprised as we are, and we are at least as surprised as the middle-aged woman in this stock photograph.  This was a big shock to us, especially considering the fact that we were going up against some pretty slick short films with high production values.

We would definitely like to thank the University of Tulsa Film Studies Program, as well as everyone – from the guy who wrote the original story, to our friend Mrs. Thomas, for appearing as the “Nice PSP” lady – who helped us to make this movie what it is.

To commemorate this occasion for posterity’s sake, we documented our evening at the film festival.  We also kept the live version of Creepypasta on this video in its entirety, so you can hear the audience reactions (though not as clear as absolutely possible, since the microphone was facing the screen instead of the crowd behind us).

Creepypasta Live! (And other updates)

TU Film Festival! Some big news for you guys today!  We just learned today that our short film from last summer, Creepypasta, is going to be shown at the University of Tulsa 4th Annual Spring Film Festival!

This is really exciting news for us.  This will be the first time one of our original shorts will be shown in a large theater in front of an audience of total strangers.

If you happen to be in the area, the film festival begins Monday, February 27th, at 7 pm, at the Gussman Concert Hall in the Lorton Performace Center (on the far east side of the campus).  I (Elliott) will be there for sure.

Creepypasta has been on a rollercoaster ride of events recently.  Apart from this new update, Creepypasta was posted on PokeMemes in mid-January, which instantly directed tons of traffic our way.  Within the span of a few days, Creepypasta became our #1 most-viewed and most-commented-on video of all time, and attracted several thousand more views after that.  Right now, the video stands at close to 61,000 views, which is absolutely staggering for us.  Who would’ve thought that a short film that we did mostly for fun would’ve turned out like this?

I realize that there has been little to no news recently about upcoming projects, especially Earthbound.  Rest assured, we ARE working on it, whenever time permits, and it will be completed eventually.  We are currently in the midst of our fourth season of commissioned Wesley commercials, which, as you may expect, is eating up lots of time.  Add in the usual “we’re busy with classes” reason and you have our perennial problem of having little to no time to work on these projects.

But all is not lost!  Here are a few pieces of information to entertain you / give you hope for the future…

  • Noticing everyone else on YouTube was doing it, we have recently launched a secondary YouTube page, entitled “Kommander Krunchy’s Good Times Slap-Happy YouTube Page,” which is where we’ll be posting random junk videos filmed with our iPods, as well as previously unreleased videos and shorts that we feel aren’t good enough for the main page.  Go there, watch, and subscribe!
  • We are currently busy assembling a new compilation DVD that spans everything we’ve made since The Fabulously Random Junk Videos of Sweetness in 2010.  This will include all our recent short films, the Harry Potter trilogy, two never-before-seen ACT I backstage videos, both road trip videos, tons of bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage, and more!  Basically everything since the last compilation DVD will be on there, except for Earthbound.
  • And speaking of Earthbound, we haven’t forgotten about the second Earthbound DVD either.  In fact, we are currently planning on filming that fan-assembled documentary for you guys (which will be an exclusive DVD-only feature) during this upcoming spring break.  The good news is it looks like we will be able to respond to every single comment you guys left for us.  The bad news is that we won’t be accepting any new comments after March 1st, so go and comment if you still need to say something to us!

That’s everything for now!  Bye!

Groundhog Day 2012

In order to celebrate that infamous, never-ending day, Groundhog Day, a new video has been released!  Directed by our dad, Max Ridgway, and starring Phil “Punxsutawney Phil” Ridgway.  Check it out, it’s hot!

“Kraken of the Sea” – Extended Remix from menwithmachineguns!

Our friends at menwithmachineguns have put together an extended version of the “Kraken of the Sea” remix appearing in Earthbound Episode 5:  Cake, and coupled it with a cool music video (featuring footage from Episode 5!).  The extended remix sounds great, so be sure to comment, like, and favorite!

Start 2012 Right With Harry Potter!

The third chapter in our ridiculous Harry Potter spoof series has arrived!  “Having abandoned an unconscious Draco Malfoy in the bathtub some time ago, Harry Potter now finds himself face-to-face with Draco’s irate dad, Lucius Malfoy. When Lucius demands the location of his now-missing son, Harry and his friend Ron must quickly think their way out of this situation.”

While the first video in the series was improvised with no script and the second video was jokingly done with a lazy, mostly improvised script, this third one we feel is the strongest entry of all, since we treated it as an actual short film project with a much tighter script.  As a result, we’re much prouder of this one, and we think it turned out great, so please pass it around to as many fellow Harry Potter fans as you can!

So, now that we’ve completed Harry Potter and the Final Video, everything is off our video-making burners except for Earthbound Episode 6.  Which can only mean one thing…

WE ARE OFFICIALLY BEGINNING TO WORK ON EARTHBOUND AGAIN!!!!
